- The airline adds flights to popular European destinations and surpasses 3 million seats on offer mark this year
Wizz Air, the leading carrier in the Republic of Moldova, is expanding its operations from Chisinau by increasing frequency on ten direct routes to key European destinations, further strengthening the country’s international connectivity. Tickets are already available on Wizz Air’s official website and via the WIZZ mobile app.
Despite industry headwinds, this expansion has been made possible by a fifth aircraft, which will be based in Moldova’s capital from 18 September 2026. The additional capacity of over 500 thousand seats will support growing passenger demand and provide travelers with more convenient schedules and greater flexibility for leisure and business travel, as well as visiting friends and family.
The increased frequencies will cover many sought-after destinations, including Italy (Venice, Bergamo, Bologna, and Verona), France (Paris, Nice), Belgium (Brussels), Germany (Berlin), Cyprus (Larnaca) and the Czech Republic (Prague).
This move further consolidates Wizz Air’s dominant position in the Moldovan market, where it will hold a 62% market share after this allocation. It also demonstrates the airline’s long-term commitment to the country, as evidenced by its ongoing network expansion, increased seat capacity, and enhanced flight services, which provide Moldovan passengers with reliable travel options to Europe and beyond. Currently, the airline serves 35 destinations in 16 countries.
“We know that mobility and air travel are especially important to passengers in Moldova.” said Ian Malin, Chief Commercial Officer of Wizz Air. “By adding a fifth aircraft to our Chisinau base, we are proud to be on track to surpass the 3 million seats on sale milestone by the end of this calendar year and continue to expand our capacity in the country. We thank our passengers for choosing Wizz Air. We are grateful to our partners in Moldova for their support.“
“The continued expansion of Wizz Air’s operations at Eugen Doga Chișinău International Airport and the allocation of a fifth based aircraft once again confirm the airline’s confidence in the potential of Moldova’s aviation market and in the development of our airport as a regional connectivity hub.
The increase in frequencies on European routes provides passengers with greater flexibility, enhanced connectivity, and broader travel opportunities, while also supporting the growth of mobility and strengthening the country’s economic and tourism ties. We highly value our strong partnership with Wizz Air and remain committed to supporting the development of a modern, affordable, and diversified route network for our passengers,” said Sergiu Spoială, Administrator of Eugen Doga Chișinău International Airport.
