Wizz Air is extremely disappointed that another NATS technical failure has caused widespread disruption across the UK aviation network. Passengers are once again facing delays and cancellations because of a failure entirely outside airlines’ control.
This is not the first time NATS has failed during a peak summer period, and here we go again. A critical national infrastructure provider should not repeatedly bring the aviation system to a standstill. NATS is simply not fit for purpose in its current form.
Given the Government’s ambition to expand UK aviation capacity, urgent reform of NATS is needed. Airlines, passengers and airports cannot continue to bear the consequences of recurring system failures.
Our teams are working tirelessly to minimise disruption and restore our schedule as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologise to affected passengers, but today’s disruption originates from the UK air traffic control system and is entirely outside Wizz Air’s control.
Passengers who booked directly with Wizz Air should monitor email, SMS and app notifications for the latest updates before travelling to the airport.
